All about US

Somehow US Magazine showed up in our mailbox this summer.  If you are not familiar with US, think of Parade magazine and go down ten notches.

At first I was appalled. Each week they feature famous women caught wearing the same dress and then they are judged on who looks best. This is the magazine to read if you want to know everything about nothing. And we all read it!

It was every bit as bonding as The Little Engine That Could.

I want to capture the moment at the table as the young ones were doing battle with the voter's pamphlet. I announce that Brooke Shield's husband was instrumental in the Paris Hilton FunnyorDie retort to John McCain's commercial. She memorized her lines and they only had to do four takes.

"How do you know that, MOM?"

"US!"

Now picture the college girls watching Sex and the City on DVD.  The college boyfriend comes into the room a little too quickly and asks, "Is this the one where Sarah Jessica Parker wears gladiator sandals?"

"How do you know that, JOOORDAN?"

"US!" (addressed to A.K.A Lisa Crunick)

Now it is time for Crime and Punishment. Actually Boomsday was my favorite read this summer. A young woman's anger blogs her generation into outrage over how much the Baby Boomers are costing them in taxes. She gets hooked up with a want-to-be-president, whose platform becomes giving boomers incentives for euthanization to balance the budget.

Watch for this to become a movie. I laughed so hard, my "kids" gave me the eye on the ferry. Oh, what fun it is to be the one acting out.

And while we are on favorites, my favorite hike of the summer was a ten miler in Level 1 wilderness with family members, on the occasion of a fiftieth wedding anniversary.

One of my favorite moments was hearing the ten-year-old boy cousins call my eighteen-year-old "old!"

I hope your summer has a favorite book, kiss, and lots of laughter.

And while I do not want to be known for this kind of information, if you are inclined to have some chocolate ice cream, I am suggesting you go to Full Tilt in White Center, and have a scoop of Mexican chocolate in a biodegradable bowl.

They make their own ice cream every Sunday.

Finally, there is some sun, and like me, you are itching to experience something new.

New Event: This is so cool, you can grab a girlfriend or not, and slip into the back door of Quinns, (the place for upscale pub food, featured in last month's Seattle magazine), for a glass of wine, and then breeze from station to station, as you tempt your senses with all that is good for you: Aromatherapy, Hypnosis for Weight Loss, EFT, which is an Emotional Freedom Technique for everything! And do you know anything about Fascial Stretch Therapy? or CranioSacral Therapy? or Reiki?

I know you have heard of them, but this is a chance to find out what they can do, as you speed date the experts. How cool is that? RSVP now.

Does Positive Changes Work for Weight Loss?

Someone called me yesterday and asked the question, “Does Positive Changes work?”

Positive Changes is a Hypnosis Center in Bellevue,Washington specializing in weight loss.

While I am an expert on using hypnosis for weight loss, I cannot say if Positive Changes would be right for a stranger who calls me on the phone.

It is like asking me to pick out your pink lipstick…umm

Compared to the many things that hypnosis and EFT are fabulously helpful with, eating issues are the most complex.

To permanently change your relationship with food, and your body, you need to resolve the root issues.

When I work with a client I always begin each session with where they are, allowing the session to magically unfold so we get quick, lasting results.

Each of us is unique.

I encourage you to make sure that your sessions are individually based, and not from a script.

Feeling comfortable with your hypnotist is also very important.

I offer an introductory session where you can experience EFT and a relaxing hypnosis. You go home with a recording that is made just for you.

First Sugar Workshop of the Year

On Sunday, I had the first Sugar Workshop of the year, and boy did I enjoy it.

This is a topic near and dear to me. And then to top it off, a client, I will call S, came in after the class for a “tune up”.

Client S, is a rare soul, who gave up pies, cookies, cakes, and candy for almost six years. Six years. Just imagine that for a moment!! I really admire her. For her, these things are like drugs and she is wise to just think,” not for me.”

Well, several changes happened in her life at once, and she found herself, eating pies, cookies, cakes and candy. Not just one particular thing, or brand, but whatever was available. Client S is also very fit, and enjoys doing circuitry classes at her gym. A circuitry class includes jump roping, squats, and push ups.

I asked her, “What is the worst thing about being back on sugar?”

Her answer, “I feel sluggish and tired. My body is not as responsive.”

Who eats a candy bar to feel sluggish?

Isn’t it interesting that we associate treats as “pick me ups,” and that ultimately, they have exactly the opposite effect? Most of us will notice a DRAMATIC increase in our energy, after just a few days without sugar.

Check out a great hypnosis for easing into a better relationship with sugar

  • Unconscious Barking
If you call and ask me if I do past-life regression hypnosis, I am going to ask you to call someone else. So here I am in the third session with Michael,  a vet who completed four tours: one in Afghanistan and three in Iraq. To say he has PTSD is not really strong enough. […]
